Simpson Park Gets New Entry
October 5, 2007
The new entrance at Simpson Park is nearly complete with the latest addition being a fountain beneath the sign. The fountain was turned on Thursday night and pumps 21,000 gallons of water an hour. Ed Crawford, director of parks and recreation, said that he anticipates adding lights to backlight the fountain. This entrance, on the east side of the park on Washington Street, was reconstructed this year to feature a divided entrance, a new sign, with vintage-type lighting, a flag display to the north and new landscaping which includes shrubs and other plantings.
