The Chillicothe Information Station, a project over a year in the making, was officially dedicated Tuesday, May 12, and is now fully operational. The kiosk structure is an initiative of the Leadership Chillicothe Class of 2008 and is located on the grounds of the Livingston County Courthouse. The structure was conceived, designed and custom-ordered by the class.

The Information Station is a self-contained stop for gathering information on Chillicothe and, according to Liz Fechtig, class member and fundraising chairman for the project, it will be accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The station features maps and brochures as well as lists of attractions, coming events, hotels, restaurants and shops for visitors.

Organizers say it is fitting the structure was installed and dedicated during National Tourism Week. “Visitors to Chillicothe will find the information Station helpful in learning about the town and encourage them to spend more time in our community and make an even greater impact,” said Fechtig. Each side of the four-sided structure features the logo of a major sponsor. “We were fortunate enough to have four local businesses step forward to be major donors for this project,” said Fechtig. “Without their support, this would still be just an idea rather than a great addition to our community.” The four major donors are Citizens Bank & Trust, Hedrick Medical Center, Midwest Gloves & Gear and Pepsi Cola Bottling Company.
