CAPTION: JIM GILLILAN CMU General Manager

Joseph Tate, president of the Chillicothe Board of Public Works announced today that Jim Gillilan, assistant manager at Chillicothe Municipal Utilities, has been appointed general manager of CMU, succeeding Steven Svec who recently retired.

This decision was made during a special meeting Tuesday at CMU in which two other applications were reviewed, in addition to Gillilan's. The appointment was made by unanimous vote of the board, after consultation with the mayor and council members Darrel Rinehart, Tom Douglas, and Sid Cornell, who were in attendance and concurred with the selection. "I appreciate the board and council having confidence in me and I look forward to serving the citizens of Chillicothe," Gillilan said.

Gillilan, 50, has been employed with CMU in various positions for more than 32 years, 19 of which were in a management position, with the last 12 as assistant manager. He has been intimately involved in all aspects in the utility business and the organization, according to Tate. He has furthered his education through courses offered from the American Public Power Association and Missouri Public Utility Alliance while representing CMU on various committees.
